Rizzo's children's portraits at the Guild

MILFORD “What’s more enchanting than the voices of young people, when you can’t hear what they say?” This quote written by writer Logan Pearsall Smith (1865-1946) is the inspiration for Aggie Rizzo’s photography exhibit entitled, “Listen to the Children.” “Through the years I have found that the common denominator of my favorite images are those of people or children. The photographs that I have been drawn to are the ones that do not so much as tell a story, as they inspire wonder; they force the viewer to form his or her own story. My intent in this exhibit is to capture childhood’s magic moments, the innocence, the fun, the curiosity, the natural spontaneity that only a child can possess.” Rizzo goes on to say, “I find that although young children have not perfected fluent communication skills, they communicate with an eloquence that adults often lack. Children are masters of the universal language of the heart which is the foundation of all spirituality.” Join Aggie Rizzo and other members of the Highlands Photo Guild on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m., for the opening reception and refreshments. “Listen to the Children” will continue through Sunday, Nov. 7. The Highlands Photographic Guild at 224 Broad Street (Wachovia Bank Building) is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hours and more information about the gallery, its members or the current exhibit can be found at www.highlandsphotoguild.com or by calling 570-296-2440.
