Rosoff to play Pike recital

    MILFORD - The Pike County Arts Council will present a recital by violinist Elliot Rosoff, flutist Allison Kiger Johnson and pianist Christopher Johnson on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the home of PCAC President John Klemeyer in Shohola. Elliot Rosoff is a well-known violinist who has performed in every major city in the United States as a soloist, concertmaster, or chamber music member. He has recorded many solo and chamber music albums and CDs. He has performed and recorded with hundreds of artists.such as Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, Johnny Mathis, the Bee Gees, and Luciano Pavarotti. Conductors he has performed with include Leonard Bernstein and Philip Glass. In the past decade, Mr. Rosoff produced and recorded two unique and innovative solo CDs, featuring four concertos by J.S. Bach and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. These CDs combined a virtuoso orchestra with a continue consisting of a studio-generated musical instrument that allowed for an expanded orchestration. The two CDs were played on over 450 classical music radio stations allover the world, becoming the most frequently performed CDs of its time. Elliot Rosoff currently resides in New York City and Milford, Pa. Allison Kiger Johnson is a native of Morristown, New Jersey. Miss Kiger went on the study music and flute performance around the world, receiving scholarships and earning diplomas and degrees from the Royal Academy of Music in London, McGill University in Montreal, and Indiana University. As a student of Damian Bursill-Hall and Claude Monteux, she was the First Prize Winner of the San Diego Flute Guild Young Artist Competition and the Grossmont Symphony Competition in California. She has given performances with ensembles and as a soloist in the US, Canada, England and Poland, some of which were broadcast on BBC-Radio, CBC-Radio Canada and WNYC-FM in New York. American concert pianist Christopher Johnson currently performs over 30 concerts each year as critics extol his brilliant performances and poetic interpretations. Highlights this season include orchestral engagements featuring the piano concert! of Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Liszt, Gershwin, and Mozart; the Quebec and New Jersey premieres of Esa-pekka Salonen’s “Dichotomie” for piano solo; and a CD release of Chopin and Rachmaninoff, titled “An Epic of Romantic Piano...Live from the Bar Harbor Music Festival.” Johnson has appeared extensively in recital and on radio and television throughout the United States, Canada, Central and South America, and Europe. The Arts Council, which in the past has presented chamber music by The Cleveland Quartet, The Shanghai Quartet and opera artists John Gilmore and Mary Poole, also presented its own chamber orchestra in music festivals at Grey Towers. This year marks a return to the staging of events after a hiatus of several years. Earlier this season the PCAC produced a staged production of Below the Belt by Richard Dresser at the Waterwheel in Milford, PA. The recital will feature the Vivaldo Sonata in A major, the Bach Concerto in D minor, the Sonata for Piano No. 8 in C minor by Beethoven, Le merle noir by Messian and the Polonaise Op. 53 in A flat major by Chopin.
