MILFORD - “The other white liquor” will be shown off in its many glories as the Laurel Villa Country Inn & Restaurant in Milford hosts its first “Rums Around the World” tasting event on Wednesday, July 19 at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held outdoors in the Laurel Villa’s formal gardens overlooking the koi pond, weather permitting. Guests will enjoy four premium sipping rums and, for the grand finale, a sumptuous Mango Mojito. “Rum sales have skyrocketed in the last year,” says Janice Halsted, Innkeeper at the Laurel Villa, “and rum producers have begun to experiment with a huge variety of new flavors.” “Rums Around the World” will feature Bacardi 8 from Puerto Rico which is cask- aged for eight years, Mount Gay Special Reserve from Barbados, Appleton Estate V/X, a Jamaican five-year-old, and 10 Cane from Trinidad.. Each rum will be presented and discussed by Michelle Pevovarnik and Tom Rogari of Bartolomeo Pio Wines & Spirits. A mango-infused rum is the new twist on the popular Mojito cocktail. Chef Carl will create a selection of scrumptious island-influenced hors d’oeuvres to accompany each course of the tasting. Guests who choose to stay for dinner will receive 15% off their entree. Dress is summer casual. Seating for “Rums Around the World” is limited and reservations, at $25 per person, should be made by July 17. For reservations and more information, call 570-296-9940.
