Russ Spinks' memories of Walpack June 28
WALPACK CENTER, N.J. On Sunday, June 28, 1 p.m., the Walpack Historical Society will present Russell Spinks, farmer and retired wildlife biologist for New Jersey Fish and Wildlife, speaking on his memories of Walpack Township and the surrounding area. Spinks, well-known for his prize-winning vegetables, especially his sweet corn, at the New Jersey State Fair-Sussex County Farm and Horse Show, is a resident of Bevans, and worked for the state from 1947 to 1985. The meeting is free and the public is invited, and takes place at the Walpack M.E. Church, Main Street, Walpack Center, within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The Walpack Historical Society opens the Van Campen Inn, Old Mine Road, Walpack Township, and the Rosenkrans Museum, Walpack Center, for guided tours Sundays, 1-5 p.m., Spring, Summer and Fall, as volunteers are available.
