Saturday glass factory tours at Gillinder's

    Featuring glass blowing demonstrations PORT JERVIS - Just named one of the top ten places to visit in the Hudson Valley, Gillinder Glass Factory in Port Jervis is offering special glass factory tours on Saturday, Feb 25. Experience the process of glass making and see molten glass being transformed into decorative glass using the same techniques of more than a century ago. These special tours, offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature guest artist, Al Hough. Mr.Hough’s graceful hand blown pieces are a delight to the eye and his artistic process will astound you. Gillinder Brothers has been making glass since 1861, and still manufactures glass products in the historic building, that it has occupied since 1912. Along with industrial glass, Gillinder has a long history of manufacturing classic glass collectibles. Since some of the moulds used today are the original moulds used more than a century ago, many of their unique designs can never be duplicated. All this is on view at Gillinder Glass. The Gillinder Glass gift shop has hundreds of new and unique glass items. Take advantage of Gillinders’ annual “You Decide What’s on Sale” sale and take 20% off any one item in the store through Saturday, Feb. 25. Tour rates are $4 for adults, $3.50 for seniors and children. Groups are welcome with advance reservations.
