HUGUENOT, N.Y. — A “Resorts and Camps-Summers in Deerpark” program will be presented Sunday, Aug. 17, at 3 p.m., at the 1863 Huguenot Schoolhouse, 25 Grange Road, Huguenot, N.Y. This is the sixth program in the 2008 Deerpark history lecture series. Learn about life in this area before air conditioning when metropolitan New York City residents spent their summers in the country. Leaving the hot sweltering city, thousands of visitors enjoyed the mountains, rivers and cool fresh air for the entire summer. Early 20th century pictures of the Neversink Valley summer resorts, boarding houses and children’s camps will be on display. Participants will receive a free story booklet about resort and camp life. Free refreshments will be served. Funding for this project was made possible in part by Orange County Tourism/Orange County Arts and the County of Orange. For additional information, call the Town of Deerpark Museum 845-856-2702 or 845-754-8070.
