The art of kindness

MILFORD n On Sept. 28, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., The New Muir House Restaurant is hosting the first annual Paint Pike Purple (Safe Haven, Inc) Art Auction/Reception with a musical performance by Martha Lorin. Unlike other art auctions n this auction is dedicated to “The Art of Kindness.” A sort of “pay it forward” if you will. It is about giving back to the community. It is about compassion. It is about creating, nurturing, and developing relationships. It’s about becoming a mentor, a teacher, and a friend. So, this is what we’re doing: along with some fabulous pieces of art and jewelry, we are auctioning off the talent’ behind the art. Chefs, photographers, tennis pros, sculptors, artists, musicians, weavers, jewelers, farmers, bakers, winemakers, yoga teachers and equestrians are all donating their talent, their time and their love. Imagine being able to spend 3 days with John Kirslis learning how to sculpt. Imagine Ricky Boscarino giving you lessons in the art of stained glass. Imagine Sheelah of Torte Knox preparing a stupendous meal for eight people right in front of your eyes, or Carolann Page teaching your child how to sing, or having Jill Deal giving you private knitting lessons. Now imagine giving that gift to someone else. The art of kindness. You can keep it. You can give it. You can donate it. It’s your choice. Let’s help give someone else the opportunity to make a choice for themselves. Tickets are $25.00 (light fare with a cash bar) available at The New Muir House, Patina Antiques, Bodies in Balance or by calling Safe Haven at 570-296-2827.
