MILFORD — A free lecture that will bring listeners westward along America’s most famous trail is planned for Saturday, June 20, at 7 p.m., at Grey Towers. Historian Peter Osborne recently retraced the travels of Lewis and Clark and will present a program that illustrates the locations that the trail brought him - and the famous explorers - through. Many of those areas include the National Forests that Gifford Pinchot and President Theodore Roosevelt formed in the early 1900s. The lecture is one of several free programs offered to the public by the Grey Towers Heritage Association (GTHA) and the US Forest Service program. Osborne is Director of the Minisink Valley Historical Society and serves on the Board of the GTHA. “We are thrilled to be offering this free lecture as a way for others to learn about our nation’s conservation history,” said Barbara Buchanan, President of the GTHA. “Part of our mission is to strengthen the connection between this wonderful site and the community. What better way to do that than to offer a program that illustrates the conservation contributions of the Pinchot family.” The lecture is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
