Tickets available for the tenth anniversary Black Bear Film Festival
MILFORD Black Bear Film Festival planners are looking forward to celebrating their tenth anniversary with a thought provoking, entertaining line up of films and lectures. The festival takes place Oct. 16 to 18 in Milford. The event begins at the recently restored Tom Quick Inn with a sumptuous buffet, open bar and a film clip program by local author, John DiLeo entitled “Bloopers, Secrets and Surprises in Classic Hollywood Movies.” Our weekend includes independent feature films, documentaries and guest speakers at the Delaware Valley High School Auditorium on US Route 6 and 209, just four miles from Milford. On Saturday and Sunday the Tom Quick Inn will host a Free Independent Film Salon. The salon is dedicated to showcasing the latest, greatest shorts from well known and emerging artists, as well as providing an interactive platform for aspiring filmmakers, writers and artists to meet and ask questions of industry professionals. Grey Towers National Historic Site is home to the free Envirofest on Sunday. A portion of this year’s films will highlight conservation heros who share a connection to Pike County and Pennsylvania: Rachel Carson, Aldo Leopold and Gifford Pinchot. The Columns Museum, 608 Broad Street, will host three historical films and a “Meet the Artist Reception” featuring local artist Yvonne Parker. This all takes place on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. A free low-emission bio-diesel bus will be available on Saturday and Sunday to shuttle filmgoers to the various locations. To purchase passes or tickets, please visit the Black Bear Film Festival office at the Upper Mill (opposite the Water Wheel Café) on state Route 2001 or call 570-409-0909.
