Watercolor exhibit opens in March

LORDS VALLEY - Don Zwerling is exhibiting a solo show of his watercolor paintings at Davis R. Chant Realtors, on state Route. 739, Lords Valley, from March 3rd to March 31. His exhibition is sponsored by Chant Realtors in cooperation with the Hemlock Farms Community Association, Cultural Arts Department and is entitled “Retrospective in Watercolors.” The exhibit is open to the public without fee, seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be an opening reception on Friday, March 3rd from 5 to 7 p.m. In addition, “giclees” of Don’s work will also be exhibited. Giclee is the most advanced photographic and printing process available to reproduce work as close as possible to the original art. Don’s extensive art background includes service as an art teacher in the New York City middle schools, art studies at the City College of N.Y., workshops and membership in the National Art League, Floral Park Art League, Plein Aire group, and workshops at the Nassau County Museum for the past six years. “My paintings are representational and realistic, focusing on strong contrasts between value to create a three dimensional appearance and enduring work of art. My work tends to be upclose and personal, with very little distraction from decorative elements. I never want to let go of the emotional quality of art making, and the enjoyment of it.
