Wholly comic books, Batman!
MILFORD n Left Field Hobbies in Milford is one of thousands of comic book shops around the world celebrating the comic book art form on Saturday, May 5. On Free Comic Book Day, close to two million comic books will be given away by participating stores, introducing as many people as possible to the wonders of comic books. “The wide array of comic books being published today ensures that readers of all ages, children, teens, and adults, can find something appropriate that will stir their imaginations,” said James Rogers, owner of Left Field Hobbies. Now in its sixth year, Free Comic Book Day has proven to be a smashing success, spreading the word that comics are terrific reading. Even if you have never picked up a comic book, stop into Left Field Hobbies, because you never know what you will end up finding. “We at Left Field want to spread the word that comics are stronger than ever in 2007,” Rogers continued. “The mainstream push that we are getting from movies that are all based on comics is tremendous. Movies like “300”, “Ghost Rider”, “V for Vendetta”, “Road to Perdition”, “Sin City”, and of course, “Spiderman” are all bringing in new readers. For Free Comic Book Day we plan to give away 1200 comics, 40 different titles, from horror to hero to humor, there’s something for everyone.” “To make the day even more fantastic, our friends at 20th Century Fox are sending out free Fantastic Four 2 Movie posters for the first 100 people that come in on the 5th” added Rogers. “It continues to get bigger and bigger, we will also have a signing by local comic book artist John Hinton and we will be supporting the Pike County Humane Center with donations, so come on down, its a fun day for everyone and for a good cause as well,” he said.
