Wind Gap, Pa.- The 35th annual Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival, featuring a lineup of 28 bands, continues through Sunday, June 15 at Mountain View Park, Mountain Road., off Route 512, two miles south of Wind Gap.
This year’s event headlines The US Navy Band, Bobby Osborne, The Lewis Family, Jessie McReynolds, Nothin’ Fancy, Valerie Smith and Dan Paisley. Also appearing are Frank Wakefield, Melvin Coins, Bill Emerson, James King, Claire Lynch, The Abrams Brothers, Junior Barber & Bear Tracks, Carolina Sonshine, The Cabin Fever Band, The Bluegrass Brothers, James Reams and The Biscuit Burners. Also performing, Miller’s Creek, Smokey Greene, Gold Heart, Bill & Maggie Anderson, and The Seth Sawyer Band. Area bands include Stained Grass Window, Loretta and Mo, and Remington Ryde. Thursday evening will feature live music until 9 p.m. and bluegrass movies. Friday, June 13, will feature shuttle bus trips to the nearby Martin Guitar Factory. Also, The US Navy Band will perform a 75 minute set starting at 8:15 p.m. Saturday will feature a special performance - the “Masters of the Mandolin’ a trio of three legendary mandolin performers. Jessie McReynolds, Bobbie Osborne & Frank Wakefield. Sunday features a lineup of four national acts including Clare Lynch, The Lewis Family, Nothin’ Fancy and The Bluegrass Brothers. Free instrument workshops will be held Friday and Saturday. The bluegrass academy will be held on Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday with a stage appearance at l:30 p.m., Sunday. The academy is free, and open to youth in kindergarthen through12th grade. It begins with the basics on any bluegrass instrument. Camping is free with weekend tickets.
