Not too late to sow
Twenty-five happy people left with their own mini greenhouse after "Banish Winter Blues with a Garden in the Snow," the extension's first gardening workshop held at the library on Jan. 30. Guest speaker Dena Salmon demonstrated planting seeds in recycled plastic food containers and placing them outdoors in winter to germinate. When spring comes, these hardy plants can be transplanted directly into garden soil or into containers.

Salmon showed attendees her own garden photos of the entire process. Beautiful vegetables and flowers like tomatoes, eggplant and cosmos thrive outdoors during harsh winter conditions.

For more information on winter sowing, call the extension office. It's not too late to start now.
