Woman's club sponsors 47th annual Wayne County Antiques Show
HONESDALE Grandma’s Attic isn’t the only place to hunt for hidden treasures! Come and bring your friends and see for yourself! Locals, tourists and visitors are all welcome to the 47th Annual Wayne County Antique Show. The Women’s Club of Honesdale sponsors this enjoyable event. All funds raised are used to support the club’s scholarship program, including a summer camp scholarship, local charities, fire companies, art and literature in the schools, as well as an on going program for the beautification of the community. The dates to save for the show are Saturday, July 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will take place in the Wayne Highlands Middle School, located on upper Grove Street in Honesdale. The school will be air-conditioned. Homemade refreshments and lunches will be available. Admission to the show is $6 per person and $5 with a discounted coupon or ad. Over 50 quality dealers from N.Y., N.J., Pa,, Florida & Md, will have booths displaying for sale: art, jewelry, coins, vintage clothing, art glass, silver, crystal, furniture, books, quilts and collectibles. Two popular artisans will be returning to the Antique Show this year. Paul Nulton from Halstead, who repairs glass and crystal; and Louise Brennan of White Mills, who canes chairs. Louise has been a chair caner for more than 20 years and will be available at the show to repair chairs. Harry GeVrieze, whose talents are also available, is an expert in furniture repair and rushing. Another new talent, Ernest Kionke, encourages everyone to bring their family heirlooms and treasures of fine porcelain and pottery for restoration. His enterprise, Dropted Shop Restoration Studio is located in Buffalo, N.Y. Items that need repair may be brought to the show and after examination, if possible, may be mended on the premises. The Hospital Auxiliary will present “Attic Treasures,” with several consignment rooms featuring a wide variety of merchandise. Local artists will be presenting their work for sale at the consignment area. For further information, contact the General Chairwoman Paula Roos at 570-253-2492.
