Canadian and U.S. fiddle champion Shane Cook will bring his band from Canada to celebrate the release of their CD, “Be Here For A While”. This free concert will be held at the Western Wayne High School auditorium on Saturday evening, October 8, at 7:30 pm.
The Old Time Fiddlers will sponsor this evening of acoustic music. They are a non-profit 501-c3 organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional music and dance through performance and education.
In addition to the concert, there will be a free afternoon fiddle and dance workshop at 2:00 p.m. in the South Canaan Township building, 2238 Easton Turnpike, Waymart PA. Cook will answer questions and demonstrate fiddle styles, and Kyle Waymouth, 5-time Canadian National step dance champion, will be teaching beginning steps in the Ottawa Valley style of dance.
Cook is one of Canada’s most highly awarded fiddlers, winning the Canadian Open National and the Canadian Grand Masters three times. He is the only foreign fiddler to win the US Grand National Championship, a feat he accomplished at 17 years of age.
