The Pike County Public Library (PCPL) is launching its annual Summer Reading Program with the theme, “All Together Now” on June 28. This year’s theme promotes developing a community that works together to improve our world.

Summer Reading program enrollment has begun for kids, ages 3-12, through the PCPL.org website. Those who can’t attend the program can participate in the Summer Reading Challenge and pick up the reading log starting June 28.

· Children 3-7 can earn prizes at 3, 6, and 10 hours of reading with a parent or caregiver.

· Children 8-12 can earn prizes after 5 hours of reading in a 14 day period.

· Completed book logs will be entered into a raffle to win games at the end of the program.

· All ages who complete the reading log by August 9th will earn an ice cream party.

· T-shirts are available for $10, pre-order is suggested.

The PCPL Summer Reading Program is developed to motivate young readers by providing fun activities, incentives, and comradery during the summer months. The goal of the Summer Reading Program is to encourage reading, provide an environment where learning is fun, and help prevent the “summer slide.” The staff at PCPL is available to provide reading recommendations for all reading levels.

To enroll in this free program, log onto the library’s website at and navigate to the Programs tab. A parent or guardian must have a library card to participate.

The Pike County Public Library is a PA Forward, Gold Star Library, committed to providing programming that will enhance the community through education, advocacy, and leadership.
