ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Stephanie Gilardi, a 2003 graduate of Delaware Valley High School has been recognized this month by the International Literature Web site at New York’s University of Rochester for her translation of the Wolf Haas book, “The Weather Fifteen Years Ago.” Each year, the University selects book translations from another language into English. Works from 23 countries in 17 languages were considered for the 2009 year. Of the hundreds of books translated into English, Miss Gilardi’s work was included on the “Short List” honoring the ten best. Also considered were works by Nobel Prize winners Orhan Pamuk and JMG LeClezio. Miss Gilardi, a 2007 graduate of Wellesley College, started work on the translation while in Vienna, Austria on a grant from the Fullbright Commission. She is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Jane Gilardi of Milford.
