    Arthur F. Smith Jr. of Port Jervis died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 62.

    Son of the late Arthur F. Smith, Sr. and Elizabeth Wright Smith, he was born on Oct. 1, 1952, in Jersey City, N.J.

    He worked as a custodian for the Delaware Valley School District in Milford. Prior he worked for many years at Royal Furniture in Port Jervis as a dispatcher and in their warehouses.

    He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

    He was longtime member of the Howard Wheat Engine Co. 4, Port Jervis Fire Department and a avid NASCAR fan.

    Survivors include his wife, Linda Smith, at home; daughter, Jackie Smith and her companion, Thomas "Tucker" Enright, who took great care of Art during his illness; stepdaughter, Jamie Morris of Shohola; two grandsons, Jeremy L. and Joshua E. Morris; two sisters, Joyce Gurliacci of Sparrowbush and Nadine Ellson of Ohio; mother-in-law Elizabeth Smith of Port Jervis; two brothers-in-law, James Smith of Washington, D.C., and Robert Smith and his wife, Doreen, of Shippensburg, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Jamie Willis and her husband, Ray, of Matamoras, and Lynita Smith of Hellertown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

    Visitation was held March 25 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis. Firematic services were held at the funeral home. Funeral services were held March 26 at the funeral home with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Interment took place with military honors at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
