    Bruce Thompson of Hamburg, N.J., died unexpectedly on Friday, July 10, 2015, at home. He was 49.

    Born on Jan. 2, 1966, in Pequannock, N.J., to the late Harrison and Charity Thompson, Bruce had lived in Sussex County all of his life. He had been a self-employed handyman in the construction field. Bruce had been a former member of the Sussex Elks Lodge and played in various pool leagues. He was predeceased by his infant son, Bruce; two brothers, Dickie and Jess Thompson; and a sister, Susan Edwards. He is survived by his four sons, Shawn Thompson of Franklin, N.J.; Corey Thompson of Sussex Borough, N.J.; Shane Barretto of Franklin, N.J.; and David Barretto of Franklin, N.J.; his two daughters, Donna Thompson of Sussex Borough, N.J.; and Shannon VanTassel of Franklin, N.J.; three brothers, Robert Thompson of Newton, N.J.; Harrison Thompson of Wantage, N.J.; and Clay Thompson of Wantage, N.J.; four sisters, Sally Corter of Dingmans; Gail Husky of South Carolina; Mary Presher of Vernon, N.J.; and Beth Thompson of Sussex Borough, N.J.; his grandaughter, Hayleigh Thompson; and his girlfriend, Brittany Jamieson.

    Friends may pay their respects to the family on Sunday, July 19, 2015, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Sussex Fire Department, 25 Loomis Ave., Sussex. Funeral services have been entrusted to Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex Borough.
