Charles 'Charlie' Scholtes

    Charles "Charlie" Scholtes of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., 89, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017.
    He was born on April 28, 1927, in Englewood, N.J., and attended Teaneck High School.
    He was a proud veteran who served in the Navy.
    Survivors include his wife, Margaret Scholtes; children, Barbara Horton and her husband, Jay, Peter Scholtes and his partner, Nong, Elizabeth Kunis, Kristen Thompson and her husband, Rusty; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
    He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Timothy Kunis; brother, Harold Scholtes; and sister, Ruth Binder.
    He will be remembered for his humor and dedication to the Lutheran Church. One of his grandchildren's favorite memories was visiting him at the Flea Market while he was working. He was very active and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement.
    Charlie was very involved in politics and would have enjoyed watching this year's Presidential Inauguration. He will be watching from Heaven. He will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
