Ellsworth Smith Jr.
Ellsworth Smith Jr. of Matamoras, Pa., died suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018. He was 75.
Son of the late Ellsworth and Madeline (McDavitt) Smith Sr., he was born on Sept. 5, 1942.
He was born and raised in Newton, N.J., but relocated to Pike County 39 years ago.
He was a retired Superintendent for the Matamoras Water Department, Matamoras; sat on the Board of Directors for the Westfall Municipal Authority, Westfall Township; was a member of the American Legion Post #486 in Matamoras; and a U.S. Navy Veteran
He was an avid sportsman, hunter, fisherman and lover of all things nature. He was a joker and loved to laugh. Over all else, he loved his family. According to his wishes, his corneas were donated to save the sight of someone in our local area.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Beverly (Pickett) Smith; son, Thad J. Smith and wife, Tricia; grandsons, Trent, Teague, and Bradley Smith of Northampton, Pa.; granddaughters, Nichole Smith of Bethlehem, Pa., and Ashley Terwilliger and husband, Robert, of Shohola, Pa.; and great-grandchildren, Tru and Aya Terwilliger.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ty M. Smith; and brother, Arnold Smith.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, Jan. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, Pa. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Jan. 19 at 8 p.m.
