Evelyn B. Petersen (nee Brown) died after a long illness on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was 89.

Daughter of Elwood A. and Bessie B. Brown in Paterson, N.J., she had lived in Ogdensburg, N.J., for many years before moving to Milford, Pa., 16 years ago.

She graduated high school and then attended hair dressing school. She worked at Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton, N.J., then owned and operated Evelyn’s Beauty Shop in Ogdensburg, N.J. After that she worked as a teller at Hardyston National Bank and then retired as a bookkeeper for Andover Nursing Home after 12 years in 1988. She took great joy in singing for the choirs and playing the organs at the Ogdensburg and Franklin First Presbyterian Church. She was a very dedicated and doting grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Chuchwa, in 1965; and a sister, Regina Rapole, in 2013.

Survivors include her son, William J. Chuchwa and his wife, Rhonda, of Milford, Pa.; granddaughter, Kristin Chuchwa of Golden, Colo.; sister, Elaine Hebert and her husband, Roland, of Palm Coast, Fla.; and nephews and nieces, David and Mindy Hebert, Colleen and Michelle Hebert and John Rapole.

Visitation was scheduled to be held at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, N.J., on Monday, June 15, from 6-9 p.m. A funeral service was set for Tuesday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment is to follow at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Township, N.J.
