Gaston 'Lou' Ghegan Jr.

Gaston "Lou" Ghegan Jr. of Matamoras, Pa., died on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Middletown, N.Y. He was 73.
Son of Gaston Louis Ghegan Sr. and Mary Braskie Ghegan, he was born on Jan. 1, 1943, in Schuylkill, Pa.
He owned and operated Mechanical Man Car Wash in Port Jervis, N.Y., and was the proprietor of Guardian Transmissions in Port Jervis. He proudly served our country with the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He was and active member of the American Legion Post #2017 in Milford, a member of the Tri-State Naval Post #7241 in Port Jervis, and the Port Jervis Lodge of Elks, #645, B.P.O.E.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and a gentleman to all who knew him. He greeted everyone with a smile and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife, Giovanna "Joann" Casano Ghegan; daughter, Lisa Ropke of Sparrowbush; son, David Ghegan and his wife, Marsha, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren, Brad Louis Ropke and Justin Frederick Ropke; brother, John Ghegan and his wife, Cathy, of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.; nephew, Jonathan; and niece, Katie.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Peter Richard Casano; and son-in-law, Mark F. Ropke.
Visitation was held Nov. 21 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis. Funeral services were held Nov. 22 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard MacDonald officiated. Interment took place on Nov. 23 at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, with military honors.
