Henry Emil 'Pip' Meyer

    Henry Emil “Pip” Meyer of Milford died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, in Twin Cedars Assisted Living, Shohola. He was 89.

    Son of the late Henry and Florence (Robertson) Meyer, he was born July 14, 1926, on Meyer Farm, Matamoras.

    He worked for Erie Lackawanna Railroad as a fireman, brakeman, and conductor on freight trains and continued with the railroad with Conrail until his retirement after 35 plus years. He was a life member of the United Transportation Union for 53 years, a Matamoras borough councilman from 1981-89, a member of Tri-State Single Side Band Club, and a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division, 9th Infantry Regiment.

    He married Patricia (Van Etten) Meyer in West End, Port Jervis, on Sept. 5, 1953. She predeceased him on April 22, 1995.

    Survivors include three daughters, Dawn Moureaux and her husband, Craig, of Milford, Toni Stenger and her husband, Werner, of Fair Haven, N.Y., and Cindy Brown and her husband, Howard, of Montague, N.J.; two grandchildren, Melissa Brown-Yirenkgi and her husband, William, of Montague N.J., and Matthew Brown and his wife, Kim-Kaye, of Montague, N.J.; and great-granddaughter, Isabella Brown.

    He was predeceased by five sisters, Jessie, Genivieve, Mildred, Alice, and Kathryn; and a brother, Karl.

    Visitation was held at Stroyan Funeral Home in Milford on Sept. 28. Funeral services were held at the funeral home, with the Rev. Keith Raser officiating. Burial followed at Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, with military honors.
