James “Jim” Martin Tooley

Mr. James “Jim” Martin Tooley of Port Jervis, N.Y., died Friday, February 11, 2022 at Twin Cedars Assisted Living in Shohola, Pa. He was 89 years old.

He was born February 21, 1932 in Watertown, N.Y., the son of the late Orley and Eva Tooley.

Jim retired from the Ford Motor Company and was a custodian for Montague School District. He was a Color Guard and Chaplin for the VFW, Post #161 in Port Jervis, N.Y. and a lifelong member.

He was a very hardworking man. He enjoyed doing yard work and gardening. He loved to hunt, play shuffleboard, and play poker with his family. He loved his dogs, Arthur and Shadow. Jim enjoyed dancing and singing, and teaching his grandchildren his favorite songs. He enjoyed having breakfast with his wife every morning at the Port Jervis Diner. He was a big Yankee and New York Giants fan.

Surviving are his children, Tami Bruce and her husband John of Port Jervis, Valerie DeGroat and her husband Mike of Port Jervis, Billy Bauman of Milford, Pa., James A. Tooley of Matamoras, Pa., Penny Whistler of Los Angeles, Calif., Rusty Tooley and his fiancé Suzanne Chapman of Matamoras, Pa.; grandchildren Saunya, Nicole, Jeremiah, Michael John, Dustin (Beth), Breanna, Emma, Jeffery, Alyssa, Tyler (Nina), Amber (Cody), Nicholas and Brandon; 15 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Jean Tooley; his son Jeffrey Tooley; and his granddaughter, Amanda Tooley.

Family and friends gathered for visitation and funeral services on Thursday, Feb. 17 at Gray-Parker Funeral Home.
