    Jean Edith Madsen of Matamoras died on Friday, April 3, 2015, at Bon Secours Community Hospital. She was 81.

    Daughter of the late Edward and Edna Slaight Olsen, she was born on Nov. 7, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

    She was the owner and operator of the Tristate Hearing Aide Center in Matamoras for many years. She was married to Martin Madsen, who died in 2009.

    A family statement read: “She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and had an amazing gift with caring for plants. Jean was a talented seamstress and very crafty. She was well known for her elaborate egg decorating. She would make displays in her store in Matamoras for everyone to come and admire.”

    Survivors include two daughters, Faith Mead and her husband, David, of Greeley and Dawn Weber and husband, Richard, of Dingman’s Ferry; a grandson and several nephews.

    She was predeceased by her son, Mark Madsen, in 2013.

    Funeral services were privately held at the convenience of the family. Cremation was at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

    Funeral arrangements were made by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis.
