John Egan of Shohola died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at his home. He was 58.

Son of Lawrence and Lorraine (Tierney) Egan, he was born on July 18, 1956, in Queens, N.Y.

He was married to Donna (Driscoll) Egan.

He was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s College in Newburgh. He held several management positions in graphic design and loved art, the New York Rangers and golf, a sport in which his son Brian bested him. He had a cross word for no one, save for the server at Dunkin' Donuts who tried to sell a bagel to a customer after dropping it on the floor. He passed along to his children his love for music and hockey. He adored his wife and had a special place in his heart for Island Pond, Vermont.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; his parents, in Murrells Inlet, S.C.; two sons, Sean Egan of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Brian Egan of St. Helena, Calif.; three brothers, Larry Egan of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Terry Egan of Milford, Pa., and Matthew Egan of Warwick, N.Y.; a sister, Elizabeth Egan of Slate Hill, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Oh, and a black lab named Dugan.

Visitation was held at Stroyan Funeral Home in Milford on July 10, with a memorial service following at the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Thomas Major.

In lieu of donations, why don’t you all do a kind deed for someone? John would have loved that.
