Joseph Louis Ryder

Joseph Louis Ryder passed away quietly at his home in Milford, Pa., on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020. He was 85.

He retired from Orange & Rockland Utilities in 1996 after 35 years of employment.

Joe was a Korean War Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 139 Milford. He served the post as Chaplain from August 2010 to October 2017. One of his favorite experiences was with the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., in April 2017.

Joe was a devoted member of several Masonic Lodges. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 344, Milford, Past Master of Hoffman Lodge 412, Middletown, N.Y., Past Master of Port Jervis Lodge 328, Port Jervis, N.Y., and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite, Valley of the Hudson.

He was a member and Past Patron for many years for the Order of Eastern Star River Valley Chapter 33, Port Jervis, and the Harriet Greene Chapter 98 in Hamlin, Pa.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Linda; sons, James and Daniel; daughter, Claudia; granddaughter, Megan; great-granddaughter, Emma; sister-in-law, Janet and Lori; brother-in-law, Richard; niece, Carolyn; and nephew, Robert.

There will be a celebration of Joe’s Life at a later date.
