Lawrence E. Gainor

Lawrence E. Gainor of Milford, Pa., died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at his home. He was 84.
Son of Lawrence and Mary Mulligan Gainor, he was born on Oct. 7, 1932, in New York, N.Y.
He worked as a steamfitter and later retired with the Department of Sanitation for the City of New York. He proudly served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
He married Catherine Gorman Gainor, who pre-deceased him in 1994.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Pawelski, and her husband, Martin, of Milford; son, Daniel Gainor and his wife, Victoria, of Aston, Pa., grandchildren, Kristin, Lauren, Martin, Matthew, Joseph, Timothy and Tyler; and great-grandsons, Jacob and Justice.
He was pre-deceased by his son James L. Gainor on Nov. 11, 2015.
Visitation was held Sept. 20 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis, N.Y. Prayers were offered at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Matamoras, Pa. The Rev. Alfred Vito was the celebrant. Interment followed at Blue Mountain Cemetery, Saugerties, N.Y.
