Margaret Ann Wagner Curabba of Port Jervis, N.Y., had but 70 years on this earth, yet she accomplished much and touched the lives of so many. She died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, surrounded by the love of her boys and their families at Westchester Medical Center.
She was a striking dark haired beauty who won “Miss Wallkill” in 1965.
On July 24, 1966, she married Richard “Dutch” Curabba and together they raised two wonderful sons, Todd and Jason. Her favorite thing to do was to travel. She loved visiting with her German family, vacationing on Lake George and Clearwater Beach. She owned the popular Fashionette Beauty Salon for 40 years in Middletown, N.Y.
In 1992, she lost the love of her life. In 2006, she moved to Florida to care for her beloved elderly parents. Margaret, “Margie” to her friends and family, recently returned to the area, where she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and lifelong friends. Margie will be remembered for her fierce loyalty to family and friends, her kindness to strangers and her angelic spirit.
Survivors include her sons, Todd, and his wife, Rhonda, of Dade City, Fla., and Jason and his wife, Dawn, of Shohola, Pa.; grandchildren, Cody, Kyle, Jack, Quinn and Regan Curabba; brothers, Ernest “Ernie” Wagner and his wife, Emmy, of Point Pleasant, N.J., and Ron Wagner and his wife, Lisa, of Chester, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, N.Y. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Father James Hess O. Carm. will officiate.
Cremation will be private. Burial of ashes will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown.
