Miles E. Comfort

Miles E. Comfort passed away Friday, May 7, 2021, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon Township, N.J. He was 60.

He was born on Dec.ember 1, 1960 in Port Jervis, N.Y., the son of Clarence E. and Ida Rose Comfort.

Miles was an excellent chef and until recently he worked at Danny’s Village Inn Restaurant in Wurtsboro, N.Y. He worked for various restaurants in the tristate area, including the iconic Flo-Jean Restaurant in Port Jervis, The Tom Quick Inn in Milford, Pa., The Riverview Inn in Matamoras, Pa., Elmer’s Restaurant in Milford, and The Grill in Matamoras.

Miles married Joanie Ellison Comfort, who resides at home. He is also survived by his daughters, Melanie Mead of Rio, N.Y., Brandi Comfort of Manhattan, N.Y., and Megan Comfort of Rio; his brother, Shawn Comfort, and his partner, Chris, of Swan Lake, N.Y.; his sister, Blanche Banghart and her husband, Otto, of Huguenot, N.Y.; his beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon Daub, Aiden Hanley, Brian DeMoya, Xzavier Mead, Aliyah Reid, Arianna Bratcher, and Miles Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Comfort; and sisters, Karen Comfort and Doreen Holifield.

A celebration of Miles’s life was held at The Grill in Matamoras on May 17.
