Nancy E. Syre

Nancy E. Syre of Matamoras, Pa., died after a short illness on Saturday, May 7, 2016. She was 75.
Born in Brooklyn, she owned homes, living in Port Jefferson, N.Y., Johnson, N.Y., and Rainbow Lake, N.Y.
She was a retired registered nuse. She traveled with Cross Country Healthcare Nursing, working at 18 hospitals in eight states. Her specialties were Orthopedics and med-surgery. Her last place of employment was at Bon Secours in Port Jervis, N.Y.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, especially when they were very little. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and Friday senior lunches at the Pike County Library. Survivors include two sons, James Syre and his wife, Janet, of Lackawaxen, Pa., ans Robert Syre and his wife, Michelle, of New Jersey; daughter, Kathryn Syre of Matamoras; and her sister, Kathryn Kors-Jacobson of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Mariah, Kailey, and Isaac.
A service was held May 18 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Greeley, Pa.
