Peter P. Kozak

    Peter P. Kozak of Matamoras, Pa. died on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, N.Y. He was 67.
    He graduated Lackawanna Jr. College, Scranton, Pa., with an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. he was a police officer for Matamoras and Westfall Township from 1980 to 1990 and a Deputy Sheriff for the Pike County Sheriff's Department 1987-1999. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1974 that included three tours of duty in Vietnam serving as a Navy corpsman attached to the 2nd Marine Division.
    He was a life member of the Mount Laurel VFW Post 8612, Milford, Pa., life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Tri State Chapter 623, life member at large of the VFW, a 44-year member of the Marsch-Kellogg American Legion Post 139, Milford, 22-year member of the Deputy Sheriffs' Association of Pennsylvania and a member of the Matamoras Planning Commission. In 1997 he was appointed to serve as Pike County Representative on the Board of Directors of the Monroe/Carbon/Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission
    Son of the late Charles and Pauline (Sherry) Kozak, Sr., he was born Nov. 20, 1949, in Newark, N.J. He was married to Linda (Ewald) Kozak.
    Survivors include his wife, Linda Kozak of Matamoras. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Kozak Jr., and sister, Paulette Kozak.
    Friends called at Stroyan Funeral Home, Milford, on Nov. 12. Funeral services were held with the bRev. Alfred Vito officiating.
    Final interment was in Moravian Cemetery, Newfoundland, Pa.
