Philip McCarty Jr.
Philip McCarty Jr. of Milford, Pa., died on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, N.J. He was 91.
Son of the late Philip and Christina V. (Raven) McCarty Sr., he was born on May 16, 1925, in Port Jervis, N.Y.
He was a retired postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Milford, farmer, and carpenter. He owned and operated Pronto Perk in Milford and was employed by Calan Inc.
He was a past-member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association, member of the Matamoras Rod and Gun Club, Matamoras, Pa., the National Rifle Association, the Marsch Kellogg American Legion Post # 139 in Milford, and a U.S. Navy Airforce World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Devereaux; son, Robert Paul McCarty of East Berne, N.Y.; daughter, Dianne Lyn Brink of Milford; four grandsons; and four great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Peter McCarty.
Visitation will be held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Luana Cook Scott officiating. Interment will follow at the Milford Cemetery, Dingman Township.
