Raymond E. Butler

Raymond E. Butler of Sparrowbush, N.Y., a longtime area resident, died Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, at St. Joseph's Place in Port Jervis. He was 95.

Son of the late Homer and the late Pearl Woodruff Butler, he was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Montchunk, Pa.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Esther Curtis on Sept. 21, 1939, in Gravity, Pa.

He was the owner-operator of many businesses throughout his life, including Butler Mobile Homes in Sparrowbush.

He was a founder and member of the First Assembly of God Church in Port Jervis.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Butler, at home; daughter, Gladys Campbell and her husband, Richard, of Matamoras; son, Glenn Butler and his wife, Mary Ann, of Milford; sons, Daniel Butler and his wife, Catherine, of Sparrowbush, Paul Butler and his wife, Janet, of Huguenot, N.Y., Allen Butler and his wife, Cynthia, of Siler City, N.C., and Harold Butler and his wife, Sheri, of Sparrowbush; brothers, Clarence Butler of Mt. Cobb, Pa., David Butler and his wife Virginia Lake Helen, FLSister: Jean Elston and her husband William Mt. Cobb; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest and Lester; two sisters, Marsha and Dorothy; and his grandson Scott Daniel Butler, who is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Visitation and funeral services were held April 8 at the First Assembly of God in Port Jervis. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
