Robert Austin Wright

    Mr. Robert (“Bob”) Austin Wright of Matamoras, Pa., entered into rest Monday, May 1, 2021, at his home. He was 79.

    Bob was born July 7, 1941, in Sparrowbush, N.Y., the son of the late Vernon Austin and the late Mary Thompson Wright.

    He went to school in the Sparrowbush School. After graduation he went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Navy for four years in the Fighter Squadron 101, USNAS.

    Then he met Helen. They fell in love and were married on Aug. 17, 1968. They bought their home in Matamoras.

    Bob had several jobs, learning several trades. He then became a custodian for the Delaware Valley Central School District, where he retired at the age of 65. Bob was always there to lend a helping hand.

    He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Boris Wright; Goddaughter, Karen Crane; niece, Nellie Fedorka; special friends Bonnie Dubovich and Joe Tufano; and dogs, Baby and Precious. He also has several nieces and nephews.

    He is predeceased by his loving parents, Vernon and Mary Wright; brothers, Lester, Vern, Alfred, and Frank Wright; and sisters, Lottie Storms, Emily Davis, and Nellie Kingston.

    Bob’s family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses and aids at Residential Hospice for all of their help and support.

    There was no visitation. A graveside service was held May 7 at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, with the Rev. Paul Zorn officiating. Cremation was held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford, Pa.

    Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis, N.Y.
