hospital capital fund Veterans are always giving back — that was a message that came through loud and clear at Wayne Memorial Hospital, when the Hogencamp/Schupper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 531 offered to sponsor a hike at Prompton Dam Park to benefit the hospital’s capital campaign, Operation Vital Signs. More than 30 people showed up for the walk in May, helping to raise $600 for the campaign. Pictured at the recent check presentation, left to right: Jean Tuttle, WMH Community Relations; G. Richard Garman, executive director of the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation; Michael O’hara, commander VFW Post 531, Joseph Maressa, Post Quarter master; David Hoff, WMH chief executive officer; Donna Decker, RN/WMH Community Health manager; and Kate Carmody, member of the WMH Foundation Board of Trustees. Plans are afoot n pun intended—to repeat the hike next year. Among the World War I soldiers to whom the hospital’s founding was originally dedicated were Millard Hogencamp and Robert E. Schupper.
