— Over the past 10 years, the number of jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) has grown three times faster than the number of non-STEM jobs. East Stroudsburg University students with a desire to pursue careers in these growing industries were recognized at the 41st annual science honors banquet, held in April at the Stroudsmoor Country Inn.
The banquet was hosted by the ESU chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, where four new members were inducted: Shawn Adamski, a graduate student studying computer science from East Stroudsburg, Pa.; Lauren Brennan, an environmental studies major from Brodheadsville, Pa.; Mark Collare, a biochemistry major from York, Pa.; and Meghan Rabon, a biochemistry major from Blairstown, N.J.
The recipients of the faculty memorial awards were Kacie Chern, a graduate student studying biology from Greentown, Pa., and Eric Januszkiewicz, a senior biochemistry and chemical biotechnology major from New Paltz, N.Y.
