Ambulance building was targeted for fire
DINGMAN State police are continuing their investigation of an April 27 fire that destroyed the Pike ALS (Advanced Life Support) ambulance headquarters garage at Camp Akenac in Delaware Township. ”It was arson,” confirmed Joe Kupcha of Pike ALS reporting to Dingman Township Supervisors Chair Tom Mincer Tuesday. Mincer asked Kupcha if he thinks that the ALS was targeted and Kupcha responded in the affirmative. Fires were set twice that day, the first being extinguished by an on-duty ambulance crew; the second while they were on a call. ”Our loss was the contents of the building but the building itself which is owned by the town is insured,” said Kupcha. Even on the night of the fire the ALS responded to four calls within 20 minutes of the fire with three units ready to go, he said.
