Angels stolen from Allen's grave
Chester, N.Y. Laurene Sandstrom has been getting angels every year for the grave of her brother, who was killed in Iraq in 2005. But two of the angels watching over former Milford resident 1st Lieutenant Louis Allen have disappeared. “The last two were the pewter hanging ornaments that had a lot of meaning for me,” Sandstrom said. Allen and his friend, Captain Phillip Esposito of Suffern, were killed in a reported fragging case. Staff. Sgt. Alberto Martinez is on trial for murder. Allen is buried at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, N.Y. Sandstrom confirmed that one angel was taken in early winter, and the second one recently. The angels were fastened to trees by Allen’s grave. Allen’s family hopes that whoever took the angels will put them back on the trees where they were found.
