Another successful Habitat for Humanity Ladies' Painting Day

MILFORD — Habitat for Humanity of Pike County is finishing up its 14th house and has dozens of volunteers to thank for that. The latest home is located in Pocono Mountain Lakes Estates. Most recently, a “Ladies Painting Day” was held at the homesite with a “record turn-out” of helpers. Working side by side with the homeowner, Cathy Cardona and her two daughters, not only were all the walls transformed with color, but doors and trim were stained and made ready to hang. Habitat requires each homeowner to put in 200 hours of sweat equity. Even though Julian Lugo and her husband completed their 200 hours before moving into their own Habitat home last December, Julian came to help paint. Eileen McGowan will be Habitat’s next homeowner and she was there as well, getting a head start on her required number of volunteer hours.
