Audubon Society celebrates the holidays

Anne Crowley, Pa. outreach coordinator of the Audubon Society (left, standing) and Pat Lariviere, secretary of the Gifford Pinchot Audubon Society, are pictured at the society’s Christmas Tea at Grey Towers on Dec. 13. Crowley gave a talk on global warming, how it affects everyone and what can be done about it. She encouraged club members to make efforts to reduce their own carbon footprints. Some examples were: using recycled wrapping paper, wrap one gift in another for the holidays instead of paper, use recycled paper plates and stationery, walking instead of driving when possible, and several other ideas. Crowley said that we need to have an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2050 or we will lose the diversity of wildlife species that we have today. Members enjoyed this holiday meeting and talk with tea sandwiches and Christmas cookies. The Gifford Pinchot Audubon Society has been meeting at Grey Towers for the last twenty years.
