A new gallery for the best regional artists Milford — Borrowing its name from the bedrock of Pike County, BlueStone Gallery, a new art gallery in Milford, has just opened its doors. Gallery owner Robert Levine has high aspirations for his new space on East Ann Street. In addition to featuring a unique collection of fine and functional art, he hopes BlueStone Gallery will become a center for intimate cultural events in Milford. Like the indigenous stone for which it is named, the BlueStone Gallery will feature the finest quality work from the best indigenous artists. Levine, along with his operating partner David Greenbaum, who is himself a nationally-recognized potter, have selected twelve artists for their opening exhibition. These artists include painters, sculptors, a wood turner, a glass artist, a blacksmith, a clothing-designing couple, as well as potter David Greenbaum. Levine, an intellectual property attorney in New York, along with his wife, the writer Suzanne Braun Levine, has spent weekends in the region for over thirty years. Inspired by the creation of the Hotel Fauchere, Levine found himself spending more and more time in Milford. “I found that I wanted to become part of the Milford community, involved and committed, not just a visitor,” said Levine. “The gallery is an opportunity to combine my interests and abilities and to contribute to the cultural life of Milford.” Levine and Greenbaum intend to edit their exhibition regularly and to continuously add new artists. They are offering regional artists an opportunity not just to show their work but to become part of the new BlueStone community. “What most surprised me” said Levine “was that of all the artists we selected for our first exhibition; none of them knew any of the others.” BlueStone will be a place for the artistic community to come together in Milford and to provide area residents with an opportunity to buy great work by the best regional artists, at realistic prices. BlueStone Gallery is located at 104 East Ann Street, in Milford and will be open Friday through Sunday each week from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m.
