Board considers elementary building plans

Architect Don Flynn of Burkavage Design Associates on Sept. 18 presented a consolidated design plan for a new Delaware Valley Elementary School that would be constructed on the Westfall campus. The 90,000 square-foot, two-story structure (in yellow, left) would occupy the space now used by the administrative offices and athletic practice fields fronting the highway. New parking and approach roads would replace the greenspace/ practice field immediately fronting the existing elementary school. New administration offices would be placed in a new 34,000 square-foot wing added to the high school (yellow, center) which would include a new multi-purpose gym that could seat some 2,000 persons for basketball games, plus additional athletic facilities. Flynn said the three-phase, $23 million project would require three years to complete and construction would be required during the school year. The plans remain tentative, and the board did not schedule any further action.
