Milford — After the shared purchase of a garbage truck with Matamoras, Milford Borough has assumed responsibility for garbage collection in the Borough. The new program began on April 5. Garbage pickup for borough residents is scheduled for Thursdays, with Friday as the makeup day. To make sure that everyone’s garbage gets collected, Councilman Bo Fean recommends that cans be put out either Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, since collection starts on Thursday at 5 a.m. Collection rules will be enforced with next weeks pick-up including: • Refuse Collection is limited to two containers, not to exceed 30 gallons per calendar week, for each taxable property. • If garbage collection is in the alley, cans must be put at the edge of the alley for pickup. • If garbage collection is on the street, garbage cans must be put on the edge of the street for pick-up. • Garbage must be placed in plastic bags. Loose garbage, whether in cans or on the ground, will not be picked up. • Garbage is limited to household garbage.
