Boy Scouts project provides new pedestrian bridge at Country Ark Farm

MILFORD Despite the bracing cold of winter, a team of local Boy Scouts constructed a new pedestrian bridge for a water garden to be landscaped this spring at Country Ark Farm, located just outside Milford. The project was coordinated and led by Scout Tyler McBride of Milford, who was joined by other members of Troop 71 and Scout Leader Jay Joerger in constructing the bridge. Materials to construct the bridge were donated by The Home Depot outlets in Matamoras and Newton, N.J., Lowes of Matamoras, Flair Home Center, Independence True Value and Luhrs Ace Hardware. Contributions from Price Chopper and McDonalds kept the Scouts well-fed during the construction project. Local Boy Scout troops have a long association in volunteer contributions to Country Ark Farm. The bridge project is one of two Eagle Scout projects planned for Country Ark Farm in 2009. Next on the schedule are improvements to the Bird Exhibit area, a project to be led by Scout Chris Normand. Located just outside of Milford, PA, Country Ark Farm (CAF) serves developmentally disabled children and adults through day and short-term residential programs in a peaceful farm setting, surrounded by friendly animals in an atmosphere of love and support. CAF’s program reach includes disabled children and adults from counties in the tri-state area.
