DINGMANS FERRY — A dinner with a Caribbean Islands theme will be presented by Friends of Ileana Hernandez, candidate for Pike County Commissioner, on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Delaware Township Municipal Building on Wilson Hill Road in Dingmans Ferry. Proceeds from the dinner and entertainment will benefit the committee to Elect Ileana 2007. “Chefs” Luis Ruiz, Juanita Miranda and Zelma Bratcher-Armstrong will provide the cuisine consisting of Lechon (roasted pork), Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, Arroz con Gandules (yellow rice and pigeon peas), Escabeche de Guineos Verdes (green bananas with red onions and olive oil), Arroz Blanco (white rice), Habichuelas and Choriso (beans and Spanish sausage) and a medley of Desserts baked by members of the Delaware Township Democratic Club. Coffee, tea and fruit punch will be available. “Ileana Hernandez is an outstanding public servant with a positive message,” said Elizabeth Forrest, campaign coordinator for Elect Ileana 2007, “This is an opportunity for her supporters throughout Pike County to come and show their support, as well as get together to meet their neighbors, have fun and eat well.” According to Forrest, a Caribbean theme was chosen as something different from the usual “election year” fare. It is a family event and children are welcome. Dinners will be available for a donation of $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, or $5 for children under ten years of age. Reservations may be made by phoning 570-828-7001 or by e-mailing info@electileana2007.com. A limited number of tickets will be available without reservation at the door.
