SHOHOLA - The Shohola Elementary School Student Council, Reading Department, and Library worked together to sponsor Dr. Seuss, “Cat in the Hat” Week, Feb. 27 to March 2. There were activities all week long. On Monday the week was launched with a student oath and door-decorating contest. Tuesday was book swap day where each student brought in a book to swap with another student. On Wednesday, students created hats based on “The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins”. On Thursday, students participated in crazy socks day to represent the “Fox in Socks” book. Also on Thursday, at 2:36 p.m., students participated in “S.S.R.” (Seuss Says Read) until 2:46 p.m. The week concluded on Friday where students and staff dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters. The student council judged the door-decorating contest, students watched a video during lunch, and Dr. Schaffer baked the entire school a cake to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
