Celebrating the eagles

Narrowsburg, N.Y. — Just north of Pike County on the Delaware, EagleFest organizers, the Delaware Valley Eagle Alliance, have planned expanded and new programs for the seventh annual EagleFest. Scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, (rain, snow, or shine), the day will kick off with opening dedications at 9:30 a.m. in the Narrowsburg, New York school auditorium. In addition to live demonstrations by Bill Streeter of the Delaware Valley Raptor Center in Milford, Lauren Butcher of the Raptor Trust in N.J. and Giselle Smisko of the Avian Wildlife Center in N.J., this coming year’s EagleFest will feature educational programs and exhibits. Biologists and naturalists from the tri-state area will be discussing current conservation issues. Robert Lizza, from Tunkhannock will be the featured artist. Programs for children include a student eagle art contest, and story telling. There will be ice sculpture demonstrations; photography exhibits; wildlife documentaries; the second annual nature and wildlife art show; and eagle viewing sites all add to the day’s excitement.
