Chamber honors area volunteers
The Pike County Chamber of Commerce held its 13th Annual Community Awards Banquet on Friday, Oct. 26 at The Riverview Inn in Matamoras. It was hosted by the Chamber in partnership with the Service Organizations throughout the area. This year 14 non-profit organizations were on hand to honor their own and to showcase their commitments toward the worthwhile work that each does and close to 250 people attended to support our area volunteers. The Pike County Chamber itself presented three awards: Chamber Director of the Year to Susan Hines, Outstanding Business of the Year to Clarion Safety Systems and Outstanding Volunteer of the Year to Mary Lou Corbett. Special recognition also goes to PPandL Electric Utilities which continues to be the event’s corporate sponsor and has been an important part of its success. This year the clients of the Pike County Developmental Center made decorated pumpkins that were donated by Wal-Mart to use as our centerpieces. The Chamber offered thanks to Art Ridley, James Levell, The Pike County Dispatch and Judy and her staff at The Riverview Inn who helped make this another successful Chamber event. (Contributed photo)
